The Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP), Ogun Chapter, on Saturday, 21st September, 2019 joined the rest of the world in celebrating the World Peace Day.
The program that began with a Peace walk through some major cities in Abeokuta was later taken to the Simeon Adebo Library, Kuto, Abeokuta; where the Society held her first Commemorative Lecture and Award Presentation.
The theme for the lecture was “Emerging Migration Issues in Nigeria: Drivers and Policy Implications” and the guest lecturer was the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Crops (NSCDC) Ogun State, Hammed Abodunrin.
Also in attendance were; the Honourable Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olalekan Oluomo, the State Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria Ogun State, Patriot Akinyemi, the representative of the State Commandant, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Ogun State, officers of the; NSCDC, Peace Corps as well as TRACE.
The program was geared towards the addressing of the increasing issue of migration and according to the Ogun State Chairman SPSP, Sodiq Ola-Raheem, the need to sensitize people on the need to make peace as the way forward to addressing issues tackling Nigeria as a whole.
Awards were also given to distinguished pioneers and facilitators of the society, as a means of commending their various efforts to the society.
