Amosun’s Government fails to invest in human capital development
- If you do it well, you will do well
- Say what you mean and mean what you say. That should be your character – Adeola
- Our Government will open rural communities – Dapo Abiodun
Abeokuta – A business guru and co-founder of Guarantee Trust Bank, Mr Tajudeen Afolabi Adeola has berated the outgoing government of Ibikunle Amosun for lack of vision to invest in human capital development of the people of Ogun State.
The Ogun State born technocrat and a politician made the remarks while addressing the mammoth crowd at the first inauguration lecture held at the M.K.O. Cultural Center, Abeokuta, staged as part of the line up activities ahead of May 29.
According to him, “Winning an election is an act of courage. You ran an election and you won. We now know that you have both courage and capacity to lead”
“I was reluctant to accept to chair the inauguration committee because of the gap between the down and dusk. I was here in the same capacity some years ago. Our past leaders had often allowed politics to override the business of good governance. So my reluctant was born out of repetition fatigue.”
“It is not enough to have roads and bridges constructed. It is only the living that will use it. The outgoing government did not invest in human capital development.
Adeola urged the Governor elect to add value to the existing hospitals and schools, and to build quality infrastructure that will bring about human capital development for the people of the state.
The Guest Speaker of the occasion Prof. Pat Utomi while speaking on ‘Good Governance and Public Administration’ expressed concern over inability of Nigerians to accept the value of productivity. “The problem of Nigeria is that we have not got to understand that human progress is based on production (output)”, Said Utomi.

He charged him to imbibe the principles of ‘Competence, Character and Courage’ in order to achieve good governance in the state. He reiterates the need to demand for accountability from political apointees and the civil servants, “Civil servants will want to sing the song you want them to sing. You have to encourage them and demand accountability from them”
A new dawn in Ogun State
